Some Useful Website Design Tips for Beginners

People believe the notion that web design is something that only a professional can do. Heck, even companies hire professional designing agencies to help create their website.

Although there is some merit to that, web design can actually be quite easy. You just have to know the things that you have to do.

So, if you’re a newbie in this industry, here are some useful tips that will help you a lot:

Remember That Simplicity Goes a Long Way

Especially when it comes to web design. You see, you might think that having multiple page elements on your homepage is quite useful, but that is wrong.

A minimalistic design is preferred by both the designers and the audience since it will be much easier for them to implement and navigate certain elements on the site, respectively.

With that being said, I want you to follow an approach where you only choose 2-3 different colors, the same number of fonts, and also incorporating videos and other media only to the extent that it is relevant to the message you want to convey.

Stay Consistent

This is with regards to your site’s content. If you’ve read or have basic knowledge about search engine optimization, you will learn that having blog posts and articles can really help drive traffic to your site.

Therefore, it is important that you create some articles that will interest the crowd. Something like a guide or an intriguing story can help do that.

Also, you have to make sure that you create content on a regular basis. Somewhere like 3-5 content pieces per week should be good for SEO purposes.

Keep Your Audience in Mind When Thinking About the Design

One of the main goals of creating an attractive website is for your audience to have a good experience when they’re on your page.

With that being said, you have to employ your design elements in a way that will help elevate the user experience.

Think about choosing a color scheme that will not only promote your brand, but also making it easy on the eyes of your audience as well.

For images, if your website is a B2C (Business-to-Consumer) website like Amazon, you should include photos of the products that you sell. Probably, use 3-4 photos for each product that will give users a different view of the item.

If you’re writing articles, make sure to only include videos or images that are relevant to the topic at hand. Avoid overstuffing your content with them, though. So, for a 3000-word article, using only a maximum of 6 images would do the trick.

Be Professional

As a web designer, you might have your mind set on creating the website and implementing the different aspects of it really well. However, it is important to be professional, especially when you are handling some clients.

Make sure to set a reasonable deadline, help them understand what you’re going to do, and give them a glimpse of their website anytime during the development process.
